Went with [info]kitsunechan and [info]pyro_rebel to A-Kon this weekend in Dallas. My first anime con, and OMG why did I wait this long?

SO much fun. Lots of very friendly people who like the same stuff I do. Dressing up in strange costumes! And the hordes of yaoi-friendly fans were an unexpected bonus! (Fanboys have figured out that girls like to see guys kissing, and that we will scream and squeal and pay them LOTS of attention if they do so.)

Anyway, Becca and Marla went to sell their new Naruto fan comic (check out Harmonic Resonance for information on ordering) and came along as help. If anyone was at A-kon and visited the Komik Market, you may remember us as the pastel mint girls.

We also cosplayed! Not in the contest, but we did dress up. Friday Becca and I were Farfarello and Schuldich from Weiss Kreuz, and Saturday I was Gaara, Becca was Tsunade, and Marla was Jiraiya from Naruto. (Marla had the most awesome Jiraiya costume, including a fantastic wig.) There was lots of picture taking (of us and by us). I'm going to develop my film today, so expect pictures soon.

And Becca and I are making plans for new cosplay outfits, and improvements to those we have. (I wrapped Farfie's bandages too tightly and bruised my arm.) We are hooked, I tell you.

But it was a blast. Sure I didn't go to the cosplay contest (did watch some of the video) or the panels, but I talked to a ton of people working at the table, bought stuff at the Dealer's Room, snagged a Devil May Cry wallscroll from the video gaming room (and became mesmerized by the Naruto fighting game), went to Yaoi fest, danced at the dance, AND was hit on by guys--non-ooky guys. I mean what more could a girl ask for?

I want my next con now.
